Tom Cousins Tom Cousins from Wales is the 2008 mens British Open Champion, with a dazzling performance that can only be described as simply stunning. Tom beat Scotland’s Iain Gillies by 11 frames to one, and I think I could probably count on one finger the amount of pots he missed during the final.
From the knockout stages onwards, the eventual champion started in the last 32 with a match against another Invernesian, in Charlie Cummings, whom he dispatched with some ease, by 8 frames to 2. His opponent in the final, Iain beat Alex Shennon by 8 frames to 5. Other notable results in the last 32 stage were Simon Ward beat Scotland men’s B1 manager Billy Henderson, defending champ Andy Lucas edged out Alex McPherson by the odd frame in 15, while in the tie of the round, brothers in law Andy Croasdale and Jayson Shaw contested a predictably quickfire match with Jayson running out the 8-5 winner.

Onto Hill -v- Bowen: Again this took place on Friday night and it was Mick who got off to a flying start and was 5-0 up in about 20 minutes. Not much later the score was 10-3 in his favour - Bowen staged a mini-fightback to 12-8 but Mick was too strong and won by 15 frames to 9...Read on for the finale.. |
